On Tuesday August 20, 1940, Lev Davidovitch Bronstein, known as Leon Trotsky, gets up without knowing that he has an appointment in the afternoon with an ice pick. He has already survived several assassination attempts, the last of which dates back to May 24. That day, he escaped heavy machine-gun fire launched by the Mexican painter David Siqueiros, a fervent supporter of Stalin. Who will receive for this “feat of arms”, as well as others during the Spanish Civil War, the Lenin Peace Prize in 1966…
In 1940, Trotsky had been living in Coyoacán, on the outskirts of Mexico City, for three years. On the day of his assassination, his second wife, Natalia Sedova, introduces an elegant young man into the villa, who arrives at the wheel of a beautiful car.
