It was only a matter of time that Live Gold bowed out, it’s now done. From September 1, 2023, Microsoft’s historic service will give way to Xbox Game Pass Core, a first-price formula focused on online gaming and access to a few titles. A change that will also mark the end of the two “free” games made available to subscribers each month, but many players agreed that the offer was long outdated and completely eclipsed by XGP, the new spearhead of the brand. The service continues its usual little routine and on this first Tuesday of the month, the Redmond firm unveils the first games that will be available in the Xbox Game Pass in August 2023.

Who says new month, says new additions to the Xbox Game Pass catalog. At the heart of Microsoft’s strategy, the service has no shortage of assets to promote. In addition to discounts or other in-game benefits, it is its monthly games that attract customers. Between independent productions, recognized titles or even big exclusives, after or as soon as they are released, it is not surprising that it is so popular. While many are feverishly awaiting the month of September, which will mark the arrival of Starfield as soon as it is launched, the Redmond firm is not resting on its laurels in August 2023. From today, all subscribers can (re)discover the real nugget that is Celeste. And we now know the program for the next few days. It will mainly rely on independent productions.
