Austrian Darts Open – Bitter end for Mensur Suljovic right at the start!

It wasn’t meant to be: Austria’s darts ace Mensur Suljovic was eliminated right at the start of the Austrian Darts Open in Graz! The Viennese was beaten 5:6 by the Dutchman Jeffrey de Zwaan, a bitter defeat in his home country of all places.

Small consolation for the red-white-red darts: With Patrik Gosnak (against Ian White, number 30 in the world!) and Zoran Lerchbacher (against Thibault Tricole), two Styrians were able to achieve sensational victories in their state capital. Both for the 27-year-old Gosnak, who had never been on the big stage on the European Tour, as well as for the 49-year-old Lerchbacher, things continue on Saturday. Later on Friday evening, Rowby-John Rodriguez faced the Lithuanian Darius Labanauskas. Austria’s number 2 won the last game of the first round 6:3 and will face Dutchman Dirk van Duijvenbode in the fight for a place in the round of 16 on Saturday.
