Little Emile, 2 and a half years old, has been missing since July 8. As hopes of finding him alive dwindle, the profile of the little boy’s parents is intriguing.
This Thursday, July 13 marks the end of the “raking” of the surroundings of the small hamlet of Vernet, in the Alpes de Haute Provence. After six days of intensive searches, the chances of finding little Emile, 2 and a half years old, in the area are almost non-existent, even less alive. If the thesis of the fugue is less and less emulated, certain villagers and volunteers are beginning to underline the sometimes rather surprising behavior of the parents of the boy. A volunteer contacted by The Dispatch was, for example, particularly marked by the behavior of the father of the family during the beating.
“He was very well dressed, which surprised us a bit. He wore a turtleneck and dress pants. He was very authoritative and would quickly raise his voice to reprimand people who, in his opinion, did not have the right attitude. This surprised everyone a bit. Since the disappearance of Emile last Saturday, the parents of the little boy have not shown themselves in the media. Marie, the mother, is the eldest of a family of nine very devout Catholic children, who have been coming on summer vacation to Vernet for 20 years. “The older ones take care of the younger ones, it’s kind of the rule at home” explains to La Dépêche a volunteer of the beats. The family is highly valued and respectedeven if she often stays a little between herself, due to her size.
What raises questions for some observers is also the politicized past of Colomban S according to information from La Dépêche. A former member of Action Française, he would have long been a very active member of the far-right association “Bastion social Marseille”. He would also have been politically engaged during the 2021 regionals on the “Zou!” list. In 2018, Colomban S appeared before the court of Aix en Provence for an alleged assault on persons of foreign origin. A case for which he was released. For some, this past could explain his choice to withdraw during this particularly trying ordeal, one imagines, for these parents.
