Automotive: Stellantis plans 2,600 voluntary departures over two years in France


According to this plan presented during a negotiation session with the trade unions, the car manufacturer with 14 brands intends to renew the conventional collective rupture agreement (RCC) which ends on March 31 and had led to the departure of 1,380 employees in 2021, only through voluntary departure measures.

“The management is proposing this time a two-year agreement but there is nothing new,” assured Christine Virassamy, CFDT central union delegate. “We are above all expecting guarantees on hiring on permanent contracts”, she added, conditioning the participation of her union in this agreement on “quantified commitments from management”. Because this announcement “will harm the performance and yield of the factories”, she predicts.

“We are understaffed as ever”

On the side of the CGT, “it is a policy that we cannot endorse”, insisted Jean-Pierre Mercier, central union delegate. “The group is preparing to post record profit and during the past two years, with the Covid-19, we have had the dismissal of thousands of temporary workers and we are understaffed as never before”, he said. added.

The car manufacturer, for its part, insisted on the “context marked by the technological transition that we must support” to justify this plan, while “maintaining the employability of employees”.
