Autonomous vehicle: first successful runs for the Navya and Bluebus bus – 2023-01-10 at 10:49

(AOF) – Navya, specialist in autonomous mobility systems, and its industrial partner Bluebus, (Bolloré group), specialist in electric buses, announce the first successful runs of their Bluebus Autonom on the Transpolis test site in Fromentaux (Ain) , and confirm the achievement of expected performance. Launched in 2021, the Bluebus Autonom project aims to develop the first French industrial autonomous bus produced in series in compliance with automotive industry standards. This success makes it possible to envisage a first operation on customer sites from the fourth quarter of 2023.

More than thirty kilometers of driving in autonomous mode have been carried out on typical operating routes, in a secure space, allowing the piloting laws and dynamic interactions between the Bluebus rolling robotic platform and the NavyaDrive autonomous driving software to be validated. .

Real cases of typical urban routes, on a defined loop with station stops and braking tests on obstacles, made it possible to validate the overall behavior of the vehicle. The latter gave complete satisfaction, both in terms of comfort and reassuring dynamics.

A paradoxical performance

Data from EY highlights that the performance of the world’s top 16 manufacturers was particularly strong in 2021. While the average margin has fallen for three years in a row, from 6.3% in 2017 to just 3.5% in 2020 , this margin stood at 8.5% in 2021. This level is a record for ten years. However, the context was particularly hectic for manufacturers, faced with unprecedented shortages of components. Global sales fell 14% in 2020, the year of the health crisis, to rebound by only 5% in 2021. However, last year, players were able to reap the benefits of their efforts on their fixed cost structure. .
