Bosch's PCR test shows results in 30 minutes

Corona rapid tests promise a result in a few minutes, but are not as reliable as PCR tests. Bosch is now able to ensure quick results with the latter too. Overall, the group is making it through the pandemic well. The employees receive a bonus.

According to its own information, the technology company Bosch can now also provide results for PCR tests for the coronavirus within less than 30 minutes. A further developed software for the Vivalytic analysis device enables a result in this short time in the event of a positive corona test due to the high viral load, said Bosch in Stuttgart. If the test is negative, it takes 39 minutes to get a result.

Antigen tests are usually used as rapid tests, but they are not considered to be as reliable as the PCR tests for polymerase chain reactions. The Bosch rapid tests are already available in 26 mainly European countries – including Germany, Austria, Switzerland and Great Britain. The further development came about with the help of funding from the Federal Ministry of Research in the amount of around five million euros.

Additional windfall for employees

Meanwhile, the company wants to pay its employees in Germany a bonus for the 2020 financial year. On average, every employee at Robert Bosch GmbH should receive around 39 percent of a month's salary, as a Bosch spokesman for the "Stuttgarter Zeitung" and the "Stuttgarter Nachrichten" confirmed. With the additional windfall, employees can count on the April settlement. How high the total dividend payout is and how much each employee receives on average cannot yet be precisely quantified, as the Bosch Group's annual results for fiscal year 2020 are not yet available.

As a spokesman for the newspaper confirmed, Bosch expects a profit for the full year 2020. All employees have made an important contribution to these improved earnings prospects: through a high level of personal commitment in the form of income cuts, short-time working or reduced working hours.

In addition, Bosch is planning a one-time special payment, the amount and time of payment to be determined in the first quarter of 2021, as the spokesman further confirmed. It should be paid worldwide. According to the newspaper, the success bonus for 2019 averaged 1,227 euros per employee, with a total of 70.6 million euros distributed. 57,500 Bosch employees were eligible.
