AVM FritzApp WLAN: New Android version available

AVM’s product range not only includes routers, repeaters and powerline adapters: With the manufacturer’s free apps, the functions of the FritzBox can also be conveniently used on a smartphone. For example, while the “MyFritzApp” allows remote access to the home network, the “FritzApp Smart Home” can be used to switch sockets and thermostats from AVM. The “FritzApp TV” in turn sends television programs to mobile phones and tablets – provided that a cable FritzBox supports DVB-C streaming. And with the “FritzApp Fon” users can turn their smartphone into a landline telephone. The “FritzApp WLAN”, on the other hand, scans for wireless networks in the area and measures the WLAN speed. A new version for Android devices is now available for AVM’s WLAN app – it’s all in there.

FritzApp WLAN: Update for Android

The new Android version 2.12.2 of the “FritzApp WLAN” brings a small improvement: The app now also shows the latency in the wireless network in the report of a completed WLAN speed measurement. Previously, the latency could only be set under the menu item My WiFi read off. The latency is specified as a ping value. A low value is particularly important for online games and can make the difference between victory and defeat in critical situations.
