AVM’s 40 series with routers without modem is growing: The new FritzBox 4060 is now available in stores. In contrast to the previous models FritzBox 4040 and 4020, the 4060 really hits the wall: It transmits with the new WLAN standard Wifi 6 (WLAN-ax) and has three radio units – two units for the 5 gigahertz frequency band each up to 2,400 megabits per second (Mbps) and a unit for 2.4 gigahertz with up to 1,200 Mbps. The 4060 is supposed to quickly supply a large number of devices with data at the same time. In conjunction with the FritzRepeater 6000, which also has three radio units, a particularly powerful WiFi 6 network is created.

FritzBox 4060: Without an integrated modem
The FritzBox 4060 does not have its own modem. Instead, buyers connect them to an existing modem (router) using a LAN cable. It is therefore not only suitable to replace a slow provider router, for example, but also for many fiber optic connections – because there is often an external modem in the living room for Internet access. The FritzBox 4060 offers four LAN connections (1×2,500 Mbps for the connection to the modem and 3×1,000 Mbps for devices) as well as a USB 3.0 port for printer and storage media. Particularly: With the 4060, a model from the 40 series has for the first time an integrated telephone system and a DECT base for up to six cordless telephones and smart home devices. In combination with a FritzRepeater, mesh functions are used that always optimally connect all devices via WiFi.
