The Argentine and the Spaniard were awarded the Ballon d’Or in Paris for their outstanding achievements.
Lionel Messi has once again been named the best footballer in the world. The Argentinian got it from the specialist magazine France Football awarded Ballon d’Or in Paris for the 8th time (record).
The 36-year-old veteran crowned his outstanding career with the World Cup title in Qatar last year. On the way to Argentina’s triumph, Messi shone with 7 goals and 3 assists in 7 games. He also became French champions with Paris Saint-Germain (16 goals, 16 assists in 32 games). Messi is now active with Inter Miami in the US Major League Soccer.
Bonmati inherits Putellas
In the women’s category, the trophy went to Aitana Bonmati. Like Messi, the attacking midfielder won the World Cup with Spain.
In club football, she won the treble of the Champions League, championship and Spanish Super Cup with Barcelona. In total, the 25-year-old scored 19 goals and 21 assists. Bonmati follows teammate and compatriot Alexia Putellas, who was honored in 2021 and 2022.

Striker Erling Haaland from the English treble winner from Manchester was rewarded with the Gerd Müller Trophy for the best goalscorer for the first time thanks to 56 goals.
