Babies in great pomp

A year ago, on the occasion of its centenary, the Gucci house unveiled its latest project with great fanfare: an online concept store by the name of Vault (“vault”, in English). An experimental space concocted by Alessandro Michele, then creative director of the house (he has just left his post), offering rare vintage Gucci pieces, but also products from guest brands, immersive videos and stories celebrating beauty. After having reached out to emerging designers (such as the French Charles de Vilmorin and Boramy Viguier), the Italian label is offering a showcase this fall for more established brands, but whose notoriety is still very far from its own.

Thus, what was the surprise of the French shoemaker Carel to be contacted by Vault to be part of the list of the lucky ones (alongside the Spanish labels La Veste and Abra). The invitation in question? Create an exclusive collection for the platform. Carel has therefore revisited two models of babies with heels, adorning them with colored moiré satin and thin straps enhanced with Western-style buckles. Echoing the December 2021 “Gucci Love Parade” parade on Hollywood Boulevard, which assumed its taste for glamour. Designed to be a space of “unexpected conversations”, Vault keeps its promise here.

On sale on Vault Gucci.
