Babylon is the latest film from La La Land director Damien Chazelle. With an all-star cast and Hollywood themes, the three-hour epic looked set to be a sure-fire Oscar favorite, but things turned out differently: reviews were extremely negative, audiences ignored “Babylon” in theaters, and the Academy took the film into consideration Hardly any Oscar nominations.

“Babylon” was released in Germany in January 2023 and it didn’t fare much better. Not with drums and trumpets, but “Babylon” went without a hitch at the box office in Germany, reached number 5 in the charts for a short time and then disappeared again.
