Left in total indifference at the beginning of the year, Babylon’s Fall attempted to find an audience with content updates. But that didn’t work and the number of active players soon approached absolute zero, forcing PlatinumGames and Square-Enix to stop the costs: the experience exclusively playable online will see its servers close on February 28, 2023, putting an end to the adventure.
The publisher has also stopped the sale of the game as soon as it was announced and has obviously given the same instructions to official resellers for physical copies: apart from a few copies sent by partners, none seem accessible at this time. on Amazon.co.uk for example. American players have thus contacted their GameStop local to find out what was going on and the speech is the same each time: Square-Enix wouldn’t have not only instructed to return or discard Babylon’s Fall PS4 and PS5 boxes, but sometimes to destroy them to render them unusable.
Faced with the situation, several players therefore went in search of a copy, whether to recover a box, to hold an object which could become a collector’s item even if unusable, or by pure challenge. And several of them claim to have managed to get in touch with their seller GameStop to recover a copy, given to them (under wraps) rather than being destroyed. Many, however, had to face the refusal of their shop, which had already thrown away or returned the copies of Babylon’s Fallor planned to comply with the demands of Square-Enix.
There is a good chance that the title will also disappear or has already disappeared from our shelves in France, so if you absolutely want to find a copy to play in the coming months or for your collection, you will have to act quickly.
