The district of Scheibbs not only currently has the lowest vaccination coverage (61.8%), but was also the district with the lowest incidence value yesterday (969.5). This is probably also due to the fact that, according to “Krone” information, free tests are used less frequently in the western state districts than in the other regions.
The basics of fighting a pandemic is: Fewer tests result in fewer cases. According to the authorities, this phenomenon should be at least one of the reasons why the – official – infection rates are now declining. And that probably explains why the former corona hotspot and vaccination-muffle regions in the west of the country are now the districts with the lowest incidence values. Only in the Scheibbs district and in Waidhofen an der Ybbs were seven-day Incidences below 1000 registered. In the Amstetten and Melk regions, too, the values were below the federal state average of 1281.5. According to “Krone” information, districts with a low vaccination rate should be those where the voluntary test offer is used the least. The authorities did not want to confirm or deny this: “We are checking that.” Concrete details should be available by the end of the week.
