Over the years, the ceremonies and Grammy Awards and the Golden Globes have become real media phenomena broadcast internationally, and are once again shaken by the Covid-19, but also the demand for exemplarity. Health news is also shaking up the Sundance Film Festival.

Three American cultural events with global influence announce that they will have to submit to the news of the Covid-19: the musical prizes of the Grammy Awards, that of films and TV series of the Golden Globes, and the independent film festival of Sundance. The 64th edition of the Grammy Awards is thus postponed because of the spread of the Omicron variant. It was to take place on January 31 in Los Angeles. The Grammy Awards’ Academy of Music believes that staying at the end of the month is simply too risky.

For the moment, no other postponement date has been unveiled for this highly anticipated event by the whole world and which brings together hundreds of artists. The new date for the 64th edition should be announced very soon.

Much less accessible 2022 editions

Also change of plans for the independent film festival of Sundance. This year it will be 100% virtual. For the second year in a row, the organizers are giving up all the events planned in the flesh.

For their part, however, the organizers of the Golden Globes have chosen to hold the awards ceremony next Sunday. But this time it will be without an audience, without a host and without a television broadcast. This follows a general boycott by the organization behind the ceremony, after the Golden Globes were accused of racism.
