bad news for trophy hunters

This is a problematic bug to say the least on FF7 Rebirth for completionists who have taken the game in dematerialized version. Unless there is a patch, you may not like the solution.

Particularly industrious trophy hunters made a particularly unfortunate discovery. In the current version of FF7 Rebirth, it seems that platinuming the game is impossible with a digital version. And the solution to the problem is far from ideal.

The Impossible Quest for the Platinum Trophy in FF7 Rebirth

Obtaining the Platinum trophy on FF7 Rebirth is already an achievement in itself, as the game is immense and some of the challenges are difficult. The thing hasn’t been made any easier with the latest patch. If it brought highly anticipated changes to the game’s graphics, it carried with it a side effect that was unfortunate to say the least. The most determined have in fact discovered that obtaining the Platinum trophy with a dematerialized version of the game is currently impossible.

The secondary quest relating to the Chocobo racing mini-game at the Gold Saucer concerns this. For some obscure reason, the game is no longer able to correctly calculate the players’ score since the last patch. It is therefore impossible to recover the precious trophy linked to the quest, and therefore by extension the Platinum.

An all-Materia solution

For the moment, there is only one solution, which is not really ideal. It indeed seems necessary to have a physical version of FF7 Rebirth. The PS5 must also be disconnected from the Internet. With these two prerequisites, it is possible to uninstall and reinstall the game from the disk. Since the console is not connected to the Internet, the installed version will be 1.0, the launch version. This will allow you to obtain the famous bugged trophy, bypassing the unpatched graphics.

This is unfortunately not possible with a dematerialized version, since the PS5 must be connected to the Internet to download and install the game. We can bet that the prospect of purchasing the game a second time to platinum it will not be to everyone’s taste. the world. In this case, the only solution is to hope that Square Enix will release a patch soon. And no, this is probably not an April Fool’s joke on the part of the Japanese studio. The bug has in fact been reported for a few days, and no fix has yet been deployed.
