The investigation into an alleged theft in a stable in Pfinztal in Baden-Württemberg has taken a surprising turn, according to the police. As the officials announced in Karlsruhe on Wednesday, a horse was finally identified as the culprit after appropriate investigations. It had “stolen” the missing valuables.
The officers were called upon by a complaint from a 25-year-old who had missed her mobile phone, wallet and car key since visiting the horse stable. The woman had stowed these items in her handbag, which she had in the meantime placed in the area of the horse boxes. When she saw them a little later, they were already gone.
What initially looked like the work of a criminal turned out to be the work of the horse from the neighboring box: According to the officials, it had taken the woman’s valuables out of the handbag in an unobserved moment and distributed them in its box. In the end, the animal was not reported “with a wink”, the police said.
