BAE Systems: financing for a nuclear submarine

(CercleFinance.com) – The Ministry of Defense has awarded £3.95 billion in funding to BAE Systems for the next phase of the UK’s next-generation nuclear-powered attack submarine programme, known as name of SSN-AUKUS.

SSN-AUKUS will be the largest, most powerful and most advanced attack submarine ever operated by the Royal Navy.

The funding follows the AUKUS announcement in March by the leaders of Australia, the United Kingdom and the United States. This will eventually see Australia and the UK operating SSN-AUKUS submarines.

The £3.95 billion funding will cover development work until 2028, allowing BAE Systems to move into the detailed design phase of the programme. Delivery of the first SSN-AUKUS boat is planned for the end of the 2030s.
