Baldur’s Gate 3 on PS5: No 60 FPS – there are said to be problems with frame rate, HDR and multiplayer

• Baldur’s Gate 3 for PS5 should not have a stable 60 FPS despite performance mode.
• The quality mode runs more stable at 30 FPS, although there are also frame rate drops.

Baldur’s Gate 3 has already been released for PC and is also coming to PS5 on September 6th. But after there were already problems with the development of the Xbox version, the role-playing game on Sony’s console is apparently not running smoothly either.

As YouTuber GamingTech explains, it is not possible to play at a constant frame rate of 60 frames per second (FPS) on the console.

Frame rate issues

This mode was actually supposed to deliver 60 FPS at an upscaled resolution, but there are still drops in the frame rate up to 30 FPS. However, frame rate drops also occur in quality mode, in which 30 FPS should actually be achieved at a native resolution of 1,440p.

Nevertheless, the quality mode currently works much more stable than the performance mode. If you do want to use performance mode, the YouTuber recommends activating VRR, as this can also eliminate screen tearing, among other things.

Other possible problems

Reddit user Dubbs09 lists other problems that are said to occur with Baldur’s Gate 3 on PS5. There are problems with HDR. However, these can be remedied by adjusting the calibration at the system level.

In addition, the tutorial does not work properly for some players or does not load. However, this may be remedied by turning it off and on again.

If you cannot create your Larian account on the PS5, you also have the option of creating it on the PC to activate the cross-save function. All you have to do is log in on the console.

However, there is apparently still no solution for problems with multiplayer mode. However, it is conceivable that Larian Studios will deliver a patch before the official release that fixes possible problems.
