Baldur’s Gate 3 “unplayable” on PS5 is a disaster

Baldur’s Gate 3 is struggling and the PS5 version of the game seems particularly affected. A worrying situation for players of the Sony console. What exactly do we know?

It seems that Baldur’s Gate 3, which has been doing well so far, is now having serious problems, especially for PS5 users. Here’s what information is available and what we’ve learned about it.

Baldur’s Gate 3 faces a real crisis

Baldur’s Gate 3 players on PS5 are experiencing performance issues in Act 3 following a recent update. This major patch, deployed last week on PC and PS5, seems to be the cause of various performance issues, particularly on the Sony console.

Users are reporting that the game becomes extremely slow after this update, with very slow loading and texture rendering, NPCs and characters freezing frequently, and regular crashes causing loss of progress in Act 3 .In summary, this is a disastrous situation.

Others mention “multiple graphic bugs”, game freezes. Some recommend waiting before resuming the game in Act 3, because it becomes almost unplayable, with characters who do not react and game controls failing. Larian Studios, the game’s developer, has been asked for clarification by several media outlets, but has so far received no response.

And yet…

This is really unfortunate, because until now everything seemed to be going well. This notably includes the introduction of FSR 2.2 on PC. Even on console, the optimization seemed to be on very good track. The developers had even declared that the Xbox version was ready to launch and that the main performance issue had been resolved. So what happened? It’s a difficult situation.

We naturally hope that these issues will be resolved quickly. This is not the first time that such a problem has arisen in Act 3, which is also considered a real optimization challenge for developers. As soon as it launched on PC in August, many players had already reported problems.
