“No, I did not participate in season 5 of Balthazar”replied to us a few weeks ago Hélène de Fougerolles as part of the promotion of the Disappeared of the Black Forest.
“I was not offered it at all. I think it would have been strange to come back after two years. The question did not arise, even if I remain in contact with the production with whom I continue to collaborate on other projects, such as the TV movie Christmas… and more if you like. I don’t think there was any reason to bring my character back. The show moved on, they did two seasons without me.”.
A rather clear answer which shows that the idea of a return of Hélène Bach, even for the time of a cameo, was obviously never mentioned by the screenwriters of Balthazar. But does Hélène de Fougerolles regret that her character was not entitled to a real end on the screen? Viewers having simply learned at the start of season 4 that she had gone to live in Polynesia with her children. Far from Raphaël Balthazar who had rejected her.
“I feel no frustration and I have no regrets”told us the actress. “I enjoyed myself for three years, I loved the character of Hélène Bach. Maybe for the viewers it was weird, a little abrupt, but I had the feeling that Hélène had a end, I didn’t experience it like that”.
“I’m happy with everything I did afterwards. I tend to see what I had and not to see what I no longer have. Even when a love story ends I say “I was so lucky to experience this”. Luckily I’m like that. At least I’m not frustrated”.
