Balthazar: TF1 does not want to sacrifice its flagship series for the Zemmour-Pécresse debate

This Thursday, March 10, Valérie Pécresse and Eric Zemmour were to debate in prime time on TF1. But ultimately, according to Marianne, viewers should find the fourth season of Balthazar.

TF1 has made a choice. One month to the day before the first round of the presidential election, on April 10, the channel had planned to broadcast a debate between Valérie Pécresse and Eric Zemmour on its antenna on Thursday March 10. But viewers of TF1 will only be able to follow the first twenty minutes of the confrontation between the candidate of Les Républicains and that of Reconquête, according to Marianne. The reason ? The chain did not want to sacrifice one of its flagship series, Balthazar. Result: the debate will be broadcast on TF1, but only from 8:25 p.m. to 8:45 p.m., according to our colleagues. To follow the rest, viewers will have to switch to the antenna of LCIwhere they can find the candidates and Gilles Bouleau and Ruth Elkrief.

TF1 therefore chooses to broadcast the first episodes of the fourth season of Balthazar instead of this debate. More than a year after the broadcast of the last season, viewers will be able to follow the adventures of Raphaël Balthazar (Tomer Sisley) seven months after the tragic events. Confused by the departure of Hélène Bach (Hélène de Fougerolles), his lifelong partnerand the incarceration of his wife, Maya (Leslie Medina), the medical examiner will have to do violence to put one foot in front of the other… And it’s Camille Costes, a police captain from the corps of elite of the Banditry Repression Brigade, who will replace Captain Hélène Bach in this new season.

Presidential election: will there be a debate between the candidates?

Once again, Tomer Sisley gave of himself. “It’s me who brings the ideas, because I have a little experience in the field. I know what is feasible or not”he launched in the columns of TV 7 Days. With a friend, he had therefore created airbags adapted to certain stunts. “So that in the series, Balthazar can jump from a fourth floor, without any risk”, he said again. As for the debates usually scheduled before the presidential election, they were not to take place. “I will do several formats that take all the candidates. But after that, I will not debate with the other candidates before the first round”announced Emmanuel Macron during his first trip.
