Towards the end of the year, Barack Obama publishes his personal cultural highlights. Now it’s your turn: the areas of film and music.
Former US President Barack Obama (60, “A Promised Land”) publishes his personal highlights from the fields of books, film and music at the end of each year. After he presented his literary favorites on Wednesday (December 15), the areas of film and music followed.
Obama recommends Spielberg’s “West Side Story” and Golden Globe favorite “The Power of the Dog”
“Each of these films tells a powerful story and I hope you enjoy them as much as I do,” wrote the 60-year-old on Thursday (December 16) on Instagram and Twitter. On the list of the 14 works that Obama liked best in 2021, “West Side Story” by director Steven Spielberg (74), the medieval drama “The Last Duel” by and with Ben Affleck (49) and Matt Damon ( 51) as well as the Golden Globe favorite “The Power of the Dog” with Benedict Cumberbatch (45) and Kirsten Dunst (39) in the leading roles.
When it comes to music, Barack Obama seems to have been a fan of strong hip-hop-heavy songs in 2021. On the list of favorites, the formerly most powerful man in the world on Friday (December 17th) published on social networks, for example, are “Rumors” by rappers Lizzo (33) and Cardi B (29) and “Montero” by Lil Nas X (22).
Ex-President always enjoyed “musical diversity”
“I’ve always enjoyed listening to a wide variety of musicals, so it’s no surprise that I’ve heard a little bit of everything this year,” wrote Michelle Obama’s, 57, husband in his post. And, “I hope you can find a new artist or song to add to your own playlist.”
