After the success of the first season in 2020, Barbarians is back on Netflix for a second round of episodes. This German series created by Andreas Heckmann, Arne Nolting and Jan Martin Scharf tells the story of Arminius (Laurence Rupp), a German officer who received Roman military training.

His skills acquired in Rome will allow him to win the famous battle of Teutoburg, also called “the disaster of Varus”, which saw the Germans and the Romans clash. His return to the German lands was then triumphant, but the Romans had not said their last word.

The six episodes of the second season, available since October 21, take place one year after the events of the first season. Arminius is the chief of his tribe with Thusnelda (Jeanne Goursaud) at his side, who gave birth to his child, who is actually that of his former lover Folkwin (David Schütter).

The threat of the Romans forces Arminius to seek help from other tribes. But his plans for the reunification of the tribes are put to the test by betrayals and secret alliances. Arminius’ past resurfaces as his son Gaius and his brother Flavus return to his life.
