Barbie stronger than Asterix: where will the film with Margot Robbie stop at the French box office?

It’s 2023. Every box office around the world is dominated by Barbie. All ? No ! Because a little mustachioed resists again and again in France: that of Super Mario Bros. Dethroned in the United States and on the scale of the planet, the animated film remains the biggest success of the year in France, with a good head start on that of Greta Gerwig, who has just won a square.

With 450,250 additional admissions (and a drop of only 27% compared to last week), Barbie is now on the verge of 5 million admissions in France. And took advantage of these last days to get ahead of Asterix & Obelix: The Middle Empire. If it remains the biggest French success of 2023 in his country, the opus signed Guillaume Canet is now third, all nationalities combined.

Can he now fall from the podium? The other phenomenon of the summer, Oppenheimer, now has 3,690,892 spectators. Which is already huge in itself. But he would need a million additional entries to beat the famous Gauls. On paper, it seems complicated, but who could have predicted that Christopher Nolan’s new feature film would already go so far?

In the rest of the ranking, Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning beat Ghost Protocol’s score, and can hope to overtake Rogue Nation by the end of its run. But the score of Fallout, which had reached three million, seems difficult to reach.

And while Yannick is still well placed to become Quentin Dupieux’s biggest success, ahead of Incredible but True (317,394 admissions compared to 260,955 to date for his last born), Les Déguns 2 is approaching half a million spectators, and has therefore already done better than the first opus.
