  • Ryan Gosling has been playing cool guys or heartthrobs for years.
  • So far, however, the talented Canadian has only been allowed to be funny in a few films.
  • If you can’t get enough of Ken from “Barbie”, you shouldn’t miss “The Nice Guys”.

Ryan Gosling has had a place in the hearts of his female fans since at least 2004, when he conquered Rachel McAdams in Day One. Smaller films in particular followed, all highly praised but ignored by the general public, until he celebrated great success again with “Crazy, Stupid, Love”.

The romantic comedy not only left Gosling with the romance, but also large parts of the comedy, here Gosling was finally able to prove his talent for humorous scenes. More serious films followed, such as “Drive” or “The Place Beyond the Pines”, until Ryan Gosling was able to show himself from a completely new side in 2016.

Of course, everyone remembers “La La Land”, the romantic musical that won several Oscars, almost as best picture as well. The film’s huge success meant that the singing Ken in “Barbie” hardly surprised audiences – but they certainly delighted them.

But it’s The Nice Guys, Ryan Gosling’s second film of 2016, that deserves more attention. In Shane Black’s (“Kiss Kiss Bang Bang”) crime-comedy, Gosling plays private investigator Holland March and teams up with thug Jackson Healy (Russell Crowe) to solve the murder of porn star Misty Mountains.

The case itself is actually secondary, the focus is on the actors, who are in the best of moods. Gosling in particular delivers a comedic masterpiece here. Anyone who wonders about Ryan Gosling’s humorous play in “Barbie” hasn’t seen “The Nice Guys” – and should catch up on the film quickly!

In Germany you can currently watch “The Nice Guys” on Sky and Wow. In the USA, the film can also be seen on Netflix, and with a VPN service, this geographical restriction is of course not an obstacle for you.
