Aged 91, the victim had succumbed to the charm of the forties who regularly came to deliver medicine to her home. According to Alexandre Muschel, the victim’s lawyer quoted by our colleagues, the man, who was nevertheless married and father of a family, “made kisses at the corners of the lips”. “She was convinced that he was going to ask her for her hand”he added.

But in January 2022, as the nonagenarian’s state of health deteriorates, a guardian is appointed following her placement under judicial protection. The latter then discovers suspicious money transfers to the pensioner’s account. The forties, who had a power of attorney since December 18, 2020, had indeed transferred more than 77,000 euros to his bank account.
But during the hearing, the defendant’s lawyer assured that his client had made these transfers in order to put the money of the nonagenarian “safe from guardianship”. Moreover, these tens of thousands of euros would not have been spent and should have gone to the daughter of the victim, who was severely disabled. But the latter has never seen the color, report the Latest news from Alsace.
The defendant was eventually sentenced to six months of detention at his home under electronic surveillanceas well as a permanent ban on exercising a profession related to the elderly. Finally, he must reimburse his victim for the 77,339 euros stolen from his account, and pay 1,500 euros for non-pecuniary damage.
