BASF: chosen as a strategic supplier by PPES

(CercleFinance.com) – BASF announces that it has been selected as a strategic supplier of high-performance cathode active materials by battery manufacturer PPES (Prime Planet Energy & Solutions), a joint venture between Toyota Motor Corporation (Toyota) and Panasonic Holdings Corporation (Panasonic) .

In this context, BASF delivered the first batch of nickel-cobalt-manganese (NCM) cathode active materials (CAM) to PPES via BASF TODA Battery Materials LLC (BTBM).

The first batch was produced at BTBM’s Onoda site in Japan, one of the world’s largest calcination facilities for CAMs. BASF is also continuing its expansion project at the Onoda site, whose production should start in the second half of 2024. Thanks to the expansion, the annual supply of CAM will be increased up to 45 GWh of cellular capacity by year.
