Basket Eurocoupe: stoppage for JL Bourg, beaten in Patras

Traveling to Greece, for the 12th day of the Eurocup, JL Bourg lost against Promitheas Patras (84-77), last in their group. A bad operation in the race to qualify for the round of 16.

Without CJ Harris or Pierre Pelos (positive for Covid), the Bressans suffered the rhythm of their opponents in the first half, never leading by more than two points (22-24, 12th). Thanks to a 9-0, the Greeks stood out (31-24, 15th) to return to the locker room with a score of 39-34.

Laurent Legname’s team, carried by Rasheed Sulaimon (10 points at the break), paid for a lack of vigilance in defense in the second quarter.

By conceding three baskets from three-pointers in a row by Trevis Simpson and Kendrick Ray, JL Bourg fell back again (56-50, 28th), when they had returned to contact thanks to a good recovery.

With 5 points behind at the start of the last period (60-55, 30th), she could envisage a hold-up. But the Bressans made too many approximations to clinch a victory which would have almost guaranteed them to leave Patras behind them definitively in the classification of group B of the Eurocup.

Note, however, the 25 points and 6 rebounds of JaCorey Williams. Saturday at 8 p.m., his team will return to the French championship with the reception of Pau-Lacq-Orthez at Ekinox.
