Battlefield 2042: DICE announces that the Hazard Zone mode will no longer be updated

Battlefield 2042 finally hopes to revive with the arrival of its Season 1, which has been postponed for several months, but it still has to make sacrifices to better focus on what works. That is why DICE recently gave up the Breakthrough mode with 128 players, preferring its version with only 64 players, and we learned today that another mode is about to be abandoned, namely the mode Hazard Zone.

End clap for Hazard Zone

In a blog post outlining the future of the game, with details on Season 1 arriving as early as June, DICE warns that the Hazard Zone mode will not be updated anymore, and that it will not receive any new features, although it will remain playable :

All of us on the team had great ambition and hopes for this new Battlefield experience throughout our development, but we’re the first to recognize that it hasn’t found its way into Battlefield 2042 and will greatly benefit to focus and concentrate our energy on the modes you play with the most.

Hazard Zone will always be part of the experience, we are not disabling it, but beyond fixing critical errors and strange behaviors that may appear in the future, we are no longer actively developing new experiences or content for the mode, and you will find that the maps we release throughout our seasons will not be supported in Hazard Zone. »

Battlefield 2042 has therefore chosen to purify itself a little before the arrival of its new content, which should either relaunch the title or bury it definitively. Response from June with the launch of Season 1.
