A new scam is circulating on Facebook. She offers to win a free transport card for 6 months, but it is a ruse to make you enter your personal and banking data in order to steal them.
Social media is unfortunately a great way to spread a scam on a large scale. On Facebookit is not uncommon to come across pages promising you mountains and wonders, provided you provide your personal and banking data. These will quickly end up in the pockets of scammers who will be happy to spend your money. Online since April 1, the page titled Public transport map at Reims is part of.
As we can see in the screenshot used to illustrate this article, its only publication offers you to obtain “a Grand R card to travel free for six months” on the grounds that “GRAND REIMS mobility (sic) launches campaign to support the public following the increase in prices“. Of course, “Today is the last day to apply” and to do this, you must click on a shortened link. You guessed it, it’s a attempted data theftand the clues are numerous.
No, you can’t win a free travel card on Facebook, it’s a scam
First, the large R card which serves as an illustration is in the colors of Citura, the transport company of the city of Reims. Except that on January 1, 2024, it was renamed Grand Reims Mobilités. Then, the increase in the price of transport tickets mentioned did take place… in August 2023. A little late to propose a gesture. A little late too to post such a campaign: the publication is dated April 2 to 9:33 p.m.not to mention that it was not shared by the company’s official page.

By using a dedicated service, we notice that the shortened link surprisingly hides that of the Wikipedia page of the Reims tram (legitimate this one). But clicking on it lands on a form to fill out. After entering your last name, first name, address, telephone number and email, Scammers ask for your bank details. Unfortunately, a few comments under the post show that people have probably already been fooled.
Do not hesitate to share the information around you, especially asit is very easy to reproduce the scam by changing the city. At the time of publishing this article, the page is still online. Last year, the SNCF had difficulty getting rid of a false campaign promising a year of free travel.
