These 6 hair mistakes will make you look older

1. The hair is too short

Short hair can look great and generally appears vital and young. But: TOO short can have the exact opposite effect! Many women believe that once they reach a certain age they are no longer “allowed” to wear longer hair. So they gradually leave more and more centimeters.

We gues: A short bob that falls softly and is loosened up with a few layers flatters every woman. Extreme short cuts like pixie etc. should only be done by a really good hairdresser who can judge whether the cut suits the shape of the face and hair structure.

2. The hair is too long

In fact, even long hair can add a few years to your look if you don’t have the right cut. If the hair just hangs down boringly and has no bounce, it lets the face visually “hang along”. Split ends and broken strands further contribute to the unhealthy appearance.

We gues: Go to the hairdresser every six to eight weeks and have it trimmed just below the collarbone. This makes the hairstyle look feminine, elegant and well-groomed.

3. The hair is too dark

A hair tone that is too dark often makes the features look harsh and severe. As you get older, your complexion looks unattractively pale with so much contrast. This is aging from the paint tube!

We gues: Choose a maximum (!) of three shades darker than your own hair color and make sure to choose a dark, warm shade of brown and then mix it with lighter shades. This creates beautiful light reflections. Cool shades of brown to black are usually far too harsh for the complexion!

4. The hair is overused

Do you like using straighteners, curling irons and blow-drying your hair every day? This can damage the hair in the long term, especially if you don’t use sufficient heat protection and other care products. This makes the hair appear strawy and thinned at the ends.

We gues: Pamper your hair at least once a week with a treatment or mask and always pay attention to heat protection when styling.

5. Too strict, neat hairstyle

A middle parting and hair tied strictly in a braid or bun? Bangs that hit the forehead accurately? Sleek, strict or extremely cool looks easily make us older.

We gues: If you don’t want to do without bangs, choose one that is a little longer and falls softly on your forehead. Center parting fans twist a few gently falling curls into their hair so that the facial contour appears softer.

6. Too blonde

About one in three women regularly dye their hair blonde, and many still associate it with youthfulness and attractiveness. But the wrong shade of blonde and one that is too light can make the complexion look dull, make it unnecessarily pale and emphasize wrinkles.

We gues: Choose a warm honey tone with light reflections that flatters the skin tone and gives the face a soft glow.
