As a beauty editor and self-confessed make-up junkie, you pick up a lot of tips. But not all of them are really helpful. Our editor Friederike reveals four beauty tips that have really changed her routine.

Eyeliner – but different

I love eyeliner, but I know that not everyone has the patience and calmness in the morning to pull an accurate wing. Doesn't have to be at all. I discovered the Inner Corner Eyeliner for myself this summer. Here, the liner is not (only) pulled outwards, but also inwards, creating a cat-eye effect. I promise you, that will make your eyes look much more exciting. We'll tell you exactly how this works here.

Tightlining is almost even more important to me. That actually only means coloring the upper waterline with a kohl. I prefer to use brew or black for it. It's a strange feeling at first, but it just makes the eyelashes look much thicker. Especially if you have drooping eyelids or not very flexible eyelids (like me), this can even replace the eyeliner. My tip: Use a waterproof kohl, then the whole thing will last really long.

Bye, bye pores

I've always been lucky that my pores were barely visible. Until recently. My actually uncomplicated, normal skin has (felt) changed overnight to oily combination skin. Suddenly I have visible pores and powder is my constant companion. So that I don't shine so quickly during the day, I work my powder into the skin with a rather tightly bound brush in pressing movements. So it not only looks flawless, but also beautifully matted – and that for a few hours.

Incidentally, loose powders are not really effective for this because they are often too fine. If you have greatly enlarged pores, you can also use pressed, colorless blurring powder. The formulations hide the pores even more. The same applies here: dab instead of brushing over it.

Eyelighter

A radiant eye area is super important to me, but I don't want to use a concealer that feels 48279840 shades too light. My solution: an illuminating cream. I picked up the tip from a make-up artist at an event. I put the cream (a liquid, subtle highlighter is also possible) around the eye area before I apply foundation and concealer and pull it up to my cheekbones. The concealer looks much brighter and the eyes are much more alert. Be sure to try it out!

Keep your Nailpolish-Game strong

My fingernails are my biggest construction site. I just never managed to make them look properly groomed – no matter how much care I slapped on them. Until I came across this tip:

The cuticle should be removed with a cuticle remover – once or twice a week. Then it looks really soft and not so dry. In addition, I ALWAYS polish my nails before I apply nail polish. The reason: This smooths out grooves in the nail and the varnish holds better. My nail polish now actually lasts longer than a week – gamechanging!
