Sean “Diddy” Combs apparently won’t be attending the Grammy Awards – even though the rapper is nominated for one of the awards.

In less than a month – on February 5, 2024 – the most important music award in the USA will be presented in the form of the Grammys. However, one of the stars with a chance of winning one of the prizes will not be on site at the 66th edition of the awards ceremony, as the US site “Page Six” now reports. Sean “Diddy” Combs, 54, who is nominated in the “Best Progressive R&B Album” category for his record “The Love Album: Off the Grid,” is staying away from the Grammys.

The reason is believed to be that the allegations of abuse brought to court against the musician are likely to be the deciding factor. According to “Page Six”, however, it was not the organizers who withdrew their invitation – all nominees generally receive a place in the hall – but rather Combs himself apparently decided not to appear.

However, the organizers of the Grammys had previously told Rolling Stone“We take this matter very seriously and are in the process of assessing it with the necessary time and care.” So it’s quite possible that Combs wanted to forestall any disinvitation from the Grammy makers.

The serious allegations

Rapper and music producer Sean Combs is currently accused of raping a then 17-year-old high school student along with two other men. This was reported by the broadcaster “CNN”, among others citing court documents filed. The woman claims to have been the victim of a gang rape in 2003. She was given drugs and alcohol and taken on a private jet to New York, where the alleged assault occurred in a studio.

She named Combs and Harve Pierre, the former president of Bad Boy Entertainment, the company the rapper founded, as well as a third man. As a result, the woman has had to live with “significant emotional stress and feelings of shame” over the past 20 years. She is demanding damages in an undisclosed amount. According to US reports, three other women had previously made allegations against Combs for alleged sexual assault.

In the wake of these serious allegations, a planned reality show and documentary series about Combs’ family was canceled. As the industry magazine “Variety” reports, the streaming service Hulu stopped developing the series under the working title “Diddy+7” at an early stage.

The musician asserts that he has “done none of the terrible things that I have been accused of. I will fight for my name, my family and for the truth.”
