Musician Taylor Swift defends herself against an alleged stalker and threatens to sue. It’s about recording flight movements.

Pop superstar Taylor Swift (34) has threatened to sue a student from Florida. As the Washington Post first reported, American Jack Sweeney has received mail from Swift’s legal team. Sweeney regularly tracks the flight movements of private jets of prominent personalities and posts this information online. This, Swift’s lawyers argue, would threaten the musician’s safety.

“Stalking and harassing behavior”

According to the Washington Post, the student received a cease-and-desist letter from Swift’s legal team last December. Sweeney uses publicly available information to record celebrity flight behavior. However, Swift’s lawyers describe this as “stalking and harassing behavior” and threaten legal consequences.

Sweeney is said to have caused “direct and irreparable harm, emotional and physical distress” to Swift and her family. In addition, there would be “no legitimate interest or public need for this information.”

Serious allegations from Elon Musk

For years, student Jack Sweeney has been running accounts that track the flight movements of stars and celebrities such as ex-US President Donald Trump (77), Amazon founder Jeff Bezos (60), influencer Kim Kardashian (43) and Meta-CEO Mark Zuckerberg ( 39) record. However, the published information does not reveal which people are traveling on the planes or where they are going after landing at the airport.

“This information is already out there,” Sweeney, who is accused of stalking, told the Washington Post. According to him, Taylor Swift’s team believes “they can control the world.” X and Tesla boss Elon Musk (52) had also made serious allegations against Sweeney in the past. He compared the student’s publications in December 2022 by passing on his “assassination coordinates”.

Does Taylor Swift want to distract from her many plane trips?

Musician Swift has been heavily criticized in the past for her use of private jets. According to a study by the British marketing agency Yard, she is said to have taken the most air trips of all celebrities in the first half of 2022 and therefore left the largest CO₂ footprint. Swift’s plane is said to have taken off 170 times in a period of seven months, with the shortest flight time being just 36 minutes. The singer’s private jet is said to have emitted 8,293 tons of CO₂.

Yard calculated these figures at the time using the X account “CelebJets”, which was operated by Jack Sweeney. This account is now suspended.
