On Monday, the ARD television evening will be dedicated to Franz Beckenbauer – regardless of his death. But first the station takes a look at the farmers’ demonstrations.
Franz Beckenbauer is dead. This was shocking news for many football fans and was announced on January 8, 2024. “The Emperor” died in Salzburg the day before. A look at the ARD program gives the impression that the public broadcaster reacted surprisingly quickly, because a 90-minute documentary entitled “Beckenbauer” is already waiting for us on television today.
However, this is not a hastily cobbled together special program, but rather a brand new look back at the life of the coaching and player legend, which should be shown on ARD on January 8, 2024, completely independent of Beckenbauer’s death. A coincidence, which of course gives the film even more relevance.
Short delay for the emperor
The documentary, which was actually planned for 8:15 p.m., is a little longer coming, because the special program “Focus: Farmers’ protests – how justified are they?” was scheduled for prime time at fairly short notice. The farmers are the focus for 15 minutes before “Beckenbauer” starts at 8:30 p.m.
You can watch “Beckenbauer” at any time in the ARD media library; the film will be available there until December 31, 2028. Further documentaries that also take Beckenbauer’s death into account will undoubtedly follow in the near future.
