Filming is set to start this summer in London, Danny Elfman told Deadline online magazine. Now Warner Bros. is releasing the official launch date! Although no details have been released about the film’s plot, you can look forward to news about the cast of the sequel. Michael Keaton (“Dopesick”) will indeed be returning to his role as Beetlejuice, 35 years after the first installment.

Some fans have expressed concerns that Keaton is already too old for the role, but Elfman defended the lead actor. He said that all the make-up made Beetlejuice look 150 years old even in Part 1, so Keaton’s age isn’t an issue.

In addition to Keaton, Winona Ryder (“Stranger Things”) will also slip back into the role of Lydia Deetz. Jenna Ortega (“Scream 6”) as Lydia’s daughter should also be seen at her side, a special highlight for all “Wednesday” fans. Likewise, Justin Theroux (“Mosquito Coast”) is to be seen in a previously unknown role.

Another cast addition is James Bond 007: Spectre star Monica Bellucci. The Italian actress will play none other than Beetlejuice’s wife. However, no further information about her film character has been announced yet.

As already mentioned, star director Tim Burton (“Dumbo”) will also direct the sequel. He gets his old friend Danny Elfman (“Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness”) on board as the composer of the film’s songs. “Beetlejuice 2” was written by “Wednesday” creators Al Gough and Miles Millar. The film is being produced by Brad Pitt’s Plan B production company.
