Aston Martin will rely on a fully electrified catalog (electric and hybrid) from 2026, as announced by its boss Lance Stroll to the Financial Times.

In the United Kingdom, the sale of petrol and diesel vehicles will be banned from 2030. Car manufacturers therefore have every interest in anticipating this deadline and in-depth transforming their future offer. This is exactly what Aston Martin is doing, which will therefore adapt to the new rules of its native market.
The boss of the group, Lance Stroll, has indeed displayed his ambitions in the columns of the FinancialTimes (via Coach). The roadmap will thus lead them to a fully electrified catalog from 2026: mean that its offer will consist of cars that are both hybrid and electric only. On the other hand, the thermal will be put in the closet.
A defined roadmap
This does not mean that non-electrified Aston Martins will no longer be allowed to drive, but that their marketing will be stopped. Of course, owners of a thermal model purchased previously can still make their engine roar. But what is certain is that they will be increasingly rare over the years.

This gradual transition will lead to a first plug-in hybrid vehicle from 2024. Two years later, the entire Aston Martin fleet will adopt this type of engine. For the 100% electric, it will be necessary to wait until the second half of the decade to see one land.
This roadmap necessarily involves investments and a new strategy. This is why Aston Martin has surrounded itself with a whole new team of engineers specializing in electricity. The goal: research and development, to dissociate technologically speaking from certain partners.
Technological independence
As reminded Hybrids and Electrics, the firm from across the Channel “has signed an agreement with Mercedes-AMG which ensures its supply of electric motors until 2027“. We imagine that at the end of this contract, Aston Martin hopes to achieve a form of independence thanks to its new human and technical resources.
The sale of thermal cars will in any case be banned from 2035 in the European Union, pushing manufacturers to define a new vision focused on the electrification of their catalog. Renault, for example, is aiming for the year 2030 to completely make the switch.
