Before the noise of the streets, poor and rich are equal

Do only people who can’t afford anything else live on the noisiest stretches of street in Zurich? Two new studies refute the thesis, but also show that the rich still have advantages.

The thesis actually sounds plausible: Those who earn less or who have immigrated from Asia, Africa and South America can at most afford apartments in Zurich on very noisy streets. Surprisingly, two international studies led by the ETH sociologist Andreas Diekmann and Ulf Liebe from the University of Warwick clearly refute the thesis.
