Beiersdorf: increases its sales by 10.3% to 2.2 billion euros

(CercleFinance.com) – Beiersdorf got off to a good start in the 2022 financial year. The group’s sales reached 2.2 billion euros in the first quarter, with an organic increase of 10.3%. Organic sales in the consumer products segment increased by 11.6% to 1.8 billion euros.

The tesa segment was equally strong, generating sales of 426 million euros. Organic growth was therefore 5.1%.

‘We have a very successful first quarter behind us in which we were able to grow despite a difficult market environment. NIVEA accelerated further in the first quarter (+9.2% compared to the same period of the previous year). Our Derma business (+27.5 organic growth) significantly outperformed the market and the competition’, said Vincent Warnery, CEO of Beiersdorf, who underlined: ‘We have already taken a number of measures to alleviate cost pressures and we will continue without hesitation with the investments planned under our CARE+ strategy.’

In the healthcare sector, which mainly comprises the plaster business with Hansaplast and Elastoplast, sales increased organically by 15.5% in the first quarter.

The Consumer segment had a very good start to the year but Beiersdorf remains unchanged from its guidance and confirms mid-single-digit sales growth for 2022. In this segment, Beiersdorf confirms its guidance of a slight year-on-year increase the other from the operating EBIT margin of the current activities.

Beiersdorf expects tesa sales to grow in the low to mid-single digit range in 2022. Current business operating EBIT margin before special factors will remain significantly lower than the prior year.

The Group expects sales growth in the mid-single digit range in 2022. The Group’s operating EBIT margin from recurring activities before special factors is expected to be at last year’s level.
