Pay attention to yourself, eat a balanced diet, do sports, stay slim, not have had too many partners, have children and preferably not too late, be a perfect mother, be a model employee… It is not easy to being born, growing up and growing old as a woman, as society’s injunctions towards the female sex are still numerous. Aware of this problem, influencer Élina Rose, who recently published a book entitled Imagine if you were really youin which she advocates kindness towards oneselfspoke on the subject to Current wife, March 14, 2024. Since she passed her thirties, the young woman has said no to “goals”, these goals that women should achieve during their lives, as she explains: “It’s something I endured a little bit throughout my 20s. A bit like a countdown of a form of to-do list that I had to have before the age of 30. Be a mother before the age of 30, be a homeowner (…).” A pressure “a little invisible”created by the company, but also by “the thoughts of uncle, aunt, grandma, grandpa”…And that she decided to send away.“In the end I decided to live the life I WANT to live and not the one society expects of me”says Elina Rose.
“I did a lot of introspection starting in my thirties”
Élina Rose was not always so sure of herself. It is only at a certain specific period in her life that she realizes that she must take charge of herself and think of herself first. “I did a lot of introspection from my thirties, not before because I was in the side where I suffered my life very clearly, and where I made choices that were not aligned with mine”she admits, before mentioning her job as a flight attendant, mainly chosen due to the insistence of her parents. “The problem in the end is that you really need this reconnection with yourself to truly fully do what you love, what you want to be”she also specifies, before claiming to have passed “above all these social injunctions”like that of having children, to embody “fully” what she is. “I am anchored in my positions and I have proudly affirmed my positions. You don’t necessarily need self-confidence to dare. Sometimes I tried things (…) but I dared not to do it while I was there, I was terrified…” says the influencer.
Elina Rose advocates letting go
After reflection, for Élina Rose, taking charge of her life and freeing herself from injunctions requires a real letting go. “I let it go (…) saying to myself, ‘But in fact, you can’t offer more today in your present. You are not capable, accept it!’” And to declare: “There is a form of letting go, in the end, when we dare. You just have to say to yourself “You know what, I don’t care, it works, so much the better, it doesn’t work, too bad, but I dare and at least I would have had the merit of having tried”. Another mantra of the young woman? “If we don’t make mistakes, we don’t learn”. “Cherish your failures, cherish every moment whether positive or negative because they have a reason to be there”, she still affirms. “And be deeply grounded in your daily life because we tend to really let life move on, and we look back and we’re 30 years old, 40 years old and we’re like, ‘Gee wait, why did it happen so quickly?’ ” Words to meditate on…
