LGerman Defense Minister Boris Pistorius said on Tuesday (January 24th) that countries allied with Ukraine with Leopard heavy tanks could start training Ukrainian troops in their use, although Germany has not yet donated its endorsement upon delivery to kyiv.

Moscow’s reaction was immediate. Deliveries to kyiv of German-made Leopoard tanks would bode “nothing good”, warned the Kremlin in return, at a time when pressure is increasing on Berlin to authorize the sending of these tanks to Ukraine.

“Such deliveries will not bring anything good to the Russian-German relationship,” said Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov, judging that it “would leave an indelible mark.”

For his part, the Polish Minister of Defense on Tuesday launched an appeal to Berlin to join “the coalition of countries supporting Ukraine with Leopard 2 tanks”. “Germany has already received our request to accept the transfer of Leopard 2 tanks to Ukraine,” Minister Mariusz Blaszczak recalled on Twitter.

Warsaw declares to be in discussion with about fifteen States about this coalition, many European armies possessing such armored vehicles, likely to have a significant impact on the conflict in Ukraine against the steamroller of Russian troops.
