Seven weeks in the top 10
In season 1 of this prequel to The House of Paper, Berlin juggles between his love life and organizing the theft of 44 million euros worth of jewelry. We do not yet know what heist he will organize in season 2, but the creators of the series Lex Pina and Esther Martínez Lobato should redouble their inventiveness to bring him a thrilling story.
This second season will begin filming next year, according to the webzine Deadlinewho reports that Berlin was the most viewed series on Netflix worldwide during its first week on the platform last year. A success confirmed over the following weeks, which therefore justifies this renewal.
The show has indeed reached the top 10 in 91 countries (including France), and it has been in the top of the most popular non-English-speaking series on Netflix for seven consecutive weeks. Until now, Berlin has garnered over 348 million hours viewed and 53.1 million cumulative views in total. As a reminder, “views” are calculated by dividing the total viewing hours of a program by its duration.
For comparison, the last three seasons of The House of Paper have accumulated between 80 and 106 million views on Netflix and the show remains to this day one of the most popular international series on the streaming platform.
