Since 2017, Deal done made the heyday of France 2. The show was presented by Sophie Davant until August 2023. She was then replaced by Julia Vignali. On the buyer side, viewers have also seen many changes. Some left, others arrived. But Bernard Dumeige is one of the show’s loyalists. Since August 2017, he has been part of the band. However, originally, he was destined for a completely different profession.

If some buyers of‘Deal done fell into the world of flea markets when they were little, this was not the case for Bernard Dumeige. After the death of his mother, when he was only 19, he made the choice to pass a CAP as a building electrician. He eventually found a job as a gas station attendant, on the Northern highway. But a terrible accident changed everything.

Big accident for Bernard Dumeige

Bernard Dumeige was in fact the victim of a motorcycle accident. An event which left him with after-effects as he confided during an interview for Current wife : “In 1977, I had a very serious motorcycle accident which disabled me for life with serious after-effects. preventing me from working for a year and a half.“Subsequently, Périgord had to reorient itself.”Due to complications with my health, I could no longer stand as one can at a gas station. I joined a transport company for exceptional convoys as a driver. This allowed me to work sitting down. I did it for a few years, from 1986 to 1988“, he clarified.

Bernard Dumeige then launched into the world of entrepreneurship by launching his park and garden maintenance business. But his state of health caught up with him, forcing him to put himself in permanent total disability. “I had 600 euros pension per month. I couldn’t get out of it. I asked to retake the expertise and to have the right to live simply. I ended up getting this agreement from the doctor“, he remembered.

This is how the world of flea markets ended up imposing itself on him, after searching for his way for several years. He opened his business in Eymet (a French commune located in the Dordogne department, in the Nouvelle-Aquitaine region), a business that works and which allows him to work at his own pace. A great revenge on life for Bernard Dumeige.
