Few of us, in 2020, believed that the first refrigerator with an XXL Family Hub screen would be more than a technical demonstration. But it is clear that the sauce seems to have taken hold since, during CES 2024 which will begin in Las Vegas in a few days, Samsung will present the latest version of this model, of which the very large screen is the characteristic feature. This year, it’s called the 4-Door Flex™ Refrigerator with AI Family Hub™+.
And to arouse the enthusiasm of the crowds, the manufacturer has decided to boost its flagship with artificial intelligence. This aims to make life easier at home, which begins with recognizing the food stored in the refrigerator; a discreet camera in the enclosure films the products, the AI being responsible for recognizing them and adding them to stock (Vision AI technology). For now, the manufacturer claims that 33 foods are recognized, thanks to learning based on viewing a million photos. There is therefore still a long way to go to be sure that the Family Hub will be able to differentiate a cherry from a damson or a pork chop from a lamb chop. The user will still be able to enter the various items they have purchased themselves via, among other things, the device’s large 32-inch screen.
Based on this data, and thanks to the Samsung Food application, the Family Hub will be able to offer dishes and menus whose recipe contains ingredients already present in the refrigerator. Obviously, other imponderables will be taken into account such as a particular diet, potential allergies or even individual tastes. Samsung Food will work together with Samsung Health to ensure that the whole family benefits from comprehensive nutritional and fitness monitoring.
If the Family Hub vintage 2024 watches over the health of its happy owners, it also knows how to entertain them. Indeed, Samsung promises to be able to cast the screen of your phone on your refrigerator, but above all that certain applications will be present natively: thus we are talking about the integration of YouTube but especially of TikTok.
At the moment, we do not know the content of the technical sheet for the 4-Door Flex™ Refrigerator with AI Family Hub™+. If the volumes of the different enclosures remain unknown, it is however a safe bet that the refrigerator and the freezer will both be equipped with No Frost cold technology, which avoids the chore of defrosting. In addition, Samsung provides communication between all compatible devices in the kitchen. The idea is that this will allow the recipe displayed on the Family Hub screen to be transferred to that of the Bespoke oven, or even to that of the manufacturer’s future induction hobs.
Samsung Family Hub refrigerators are expensive products, but no price has yet been communicated for this 2024 version. It should also be noted that the release date is not yet known, but that it cannot be too far from that of the THESE.
