Best sound for the workshop and garden: Robust construction site radio with Bluetooth and DAB+ from Lidl

A robust radio ensures good entertainment when doing DIY, gardening or on the construction site. Construction site radios are particularly popular. They can withstand shocks or small falls and, above all, can be operated with batteries from cordless screwdrivers – practical.

When it comes to sound, the devices aren’t bad either and usually don’t have to hide behind “normal” Bluetooth speakers or radio receivers. Lidl currently has such a radio from its own brand, Parkseite, at a good price.

The construction site radio combines Bluetooth speakers with FM or DAB+ radio. The advantage of a construction site radio over a Bluetooth speaker is that it is much more robust. They can usually handle even small falls without any problems, and dirt from construction sites can’t harm them as much as indoor speakers.

The Parkside radio from Lidl is powered by a power cable connected to the socket or by a battery from the discounter’s 12 or 20 volt range. If you need the battery for the screwdriver, simply plug the construction site radio into the cable drum and continue listening to music.

Music streaming services can be used via cell phone or tablet via Bluetooth and streamed to the construction site radio. Lidl specifies the range as up to ten meters, but in an open area there could be a little more.

DAB+ and FM

Analogue FM and digital DAB+ radio are also available. There are also two USB inputs, one for playing music and one for charging mobile devices. The sound output is 2 x 5 watts. Unfortunately, the discounter does not provide any information about water and dust resistance. Therefore, it is better to put the device in a dry place when it rains.

Overall, Lidl’s offering is very good, even if it doesn’t come with a battery. The equipment is impressive, and branded devices often cost significantly more.
