  • The GPS tracker “Cobblestone” comes with a free data SIM card and no subscription model.
  • Aldi has offered the tracker before, and recently it was sold out quickly.
  • In contrast to Bluetooth trackers like the Apple AirTag, the location also works in remote areas.

Locating misplaced keys, convicting bicycle thieves or finding a lost backpack – so-called trackers have become increasingly popular in recent years. At the latest when Apple introduced the AirTags, Bluetooth trackers were mass-produced. Many manufacturers now offer such gadgets, such as Samsung or Tile. However, their purpose is limited because they rely on Bluetooth.

The Bluetooth trackers therefore rely on the community: If you lose your backpack with an AirTag and an iPhone approaches it, you will be informed of the location – even if you are far away. Convenient but unreliable. Firstly, the finder must have a device from the same manufacturer. Secondly, in remote areas where no one is, it is useless.

In addition, these people sometimes receive information that there is a tracker in this backpack. This is to prevent stalking using the trackers. This is generally a good thing, but in the case of stolen cars or bicycles, informing the thief would be counterproductive.

This is where Aldi comes in. From February 27, the discounter will be offering a fully-fledged GPS tracker with a free data SIM card in its online shop, which can be used within the EU, Switzerland and Norway at no extra cost. So you can find your items without fees, subscription and from anywhere.

Note: The tracker was already available from the discounter last year. At that time, the device was sold out very quickly. So if you’re interested, don’t wait too long to buy.

GPS tracker Cobblestone
  • Without fees and subscriptions

  • Up to 4 years battery life

  • Tracking in the EU, Switzerland and Norway for free

The GPS tracker Cobblestone is currently available from Aldi for 100 euros. The suggested retail price is just under 140 euros. Although the tracker is significantly more expensive than an AirTag, for example, the device also offers immense advantages through precise localization even in remote areas.

The battery life is up to four years or 4,000 tracks. The frequency of the location can be set using different profiles. Among other things, the tracker can send its location every 10 or 15 minutes, but alternatively only once an hour or once a day.

With dimensions of 6.4 x 6.4 x 2.3 centimeters, the device is very small and, thanks to IP67, also waterproof. You can find the tracker via apps for iOS and Android as well as an online platform – so you are very flexible. Of course, an operating manual is included, in which you will find all the setting options.
