Between-two-round debate: Laurence Ferrari denounces “abnormal” operation and makes a request

The eviction of Anne-Sophie Lapix from the presentation of the debate between the two rounds reacted to journalists in Le Parisien, including Laurence Ferrari, who proposed to change the rules of the exercise.

The debate between the two rounds of the 2022 presidential election has not yet taken place and is already controversial. In question, the intervention of the candidates in the choice of the journalists who will animate this crucial evening, Wednesday April 20 from 9 p.m. While the names of Gilles Bouleau and Lea Salame were made official by TF1 and France Television this Thursday, April 14, the profession reacts in the columns of Le Parisien.

So many, like Jean-Michel Apathydenounce this political maneuver – assumed on the side of the National Rally – Jordan Bardella explaining that Anne-Sophie Lapix would not succeed in “hide his hostility” towards Marine Le Pen, others prefer to put things into perspective. This is the case of Laurence Ferrari. The journalist who now officiates on CNews concedes that the exercise is “very restricted journalistically“. The one who animated alongside David Pujadas the meeting between François Hollande and Nicolas Sarkozy in 2012, explains that the role of the referees is above all to “ensure the balance of speaking time“, more than “to restart“.

“It’s absolutely abnormal”, nuance Laurence Ferrari

The presenter does not want things to remain frozen. According to the latter, the problem is more that there is only one debate between the two rounds, covered by a few channels. “We would have to find a different formula to which it would be interesting to invite the news channels continuously. […] It is absolutely abnormal that there is only one debate between the two rounds“, offers Laurence Ferrari daily. It remains to be seen whether this call, and others, will be taken into account for the next elections.
