A new real estate scam aimed at stealing your personal contribution as part of a false credit has been circulating for a few weeks already.

The end-of-year celebrations do not discourage scams and scams of all kinds. After the fiber optic scam, the bank card scam capable of ruining Christmas or even the job offer scam, malicious people have developed a new well-crafted scam. The latter targets households wishing to acquire real estate.

Spotted a few weeks ago by our colleagues from Parisian, this scam therefore aims to extract money from those who are trying to buy an apartment or a house. As part of this scam, bogus bank advisers contact their victims by telephone and in some cases manage to extract their entire personal contribution. A scam that has dramatic consequences for the victims.

How to get your money back?

Some of them shared their misadventure on their account instagram to prevent others from falling into this trap. This is a couple who wanted to buy a farm in Cantal, after consulting a copy of an online comparator. Shortly after, a bank adviser claiming to work for Boursorama contacted the couple to offer them a credit offer. The couple, who had shared their personal data including pay slips and a bank details, fell into the trap. The sales process therefore proceeded normally for this couple, who paid their entire personal contribution to the fraudster. In this specific case, the sum is 50,000 euros.

An amount that would normally have been paid to a notary. But given confidence by the bogus bank adviser, the couple seems to have forgotten this detail and followed the scammer’s instructions to the letter. “It shattered our lives and all our projects went up in smoke”explains the couple on instagram. Contacted by our colleagues, Boursorama confirmed the existence of the adviser among his teams. But this one has had its identity usurped, allowing the scammers to make their scam credible in the eyes of potential victims. Unfortunately, it is very complicated in this kind of situation to recover the transferred funds. Boursorama indicated that this scam is limited to a few cases and warns its customers recalling that in no case does the bank ask its customers to transfer such sums which must be transmitted to a notary directly. It is also advisable to systematically call the bank via the official number during such a procedure in order to avoid any unpleasant surprises.
