The German brand Beyerdynamic has just presented Space, an ultra-portable Bluetooth/USB speaker that is as comfortable for calls as it is for listening to music, at home or at work.
Small, but no less ambitious, Beyerdynamic’s new Space loudspeaker has the ultimate goal of “bringing together the best of both worlds” by offering both quality voice capture for calls and conferences while providing a solid sound experience. Unlike the previous model launched in 2019, the Phonum, the Space is already more versatile in terms of format and design, appearing as a small discreet “pebble” covered with a fabric covering, all protected against splashes. water (IP64 certification).
The Space features four MEMS microphones coupled with a noise/echo reduction algorithm and 360° Smart Mic technology, guaranteeing maximum voice intelligibility. Beyerdynamic also specifies that its capture system is able to offer a fluid exchange, without stalling or sound cuts. As far as sound reproduction is concerned, the Space features a 3.81 cm (1.5”) full-range loudspeaker coupled to two passive radiators and announces “a balanced sound, whatever the musical genre”. The speaker has two explicit listening modes, Voice or Music, to be adjusted according to the intended use.
Versatility is key in terms of use since the Space can be used via Bluetooth or via USB (C or A). Bluetooth pairing can also be simplified with Android devices via Google Fast Pair. The speaker also offers a “Business” mode blocking any possibility of incoming Bluetooth connection. In addition, two Space speakers can be stereo paired, both for calls and music listening. Autonomy in wireless use is promised at 20 hours.
Sold at a price of €179, the Beyerdynamic Space is available in three colours: grey, charcoal and aquamarine. The speaker comes with a USB-C cable, USB-C to USB-A adapter and storage pouch.
